This is Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho. They call it the "Niagara of the West." It's a source of hydroelectric power during the months of heavy flow.

The falls are actually 50 feet higher than Niagara is, but in the summer they diminish to a mere trickle!

The whole of southern Oregon was covered by repeated lava flows over the centuries and you can see many layers on most hillsides.
