This is Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho. They call it the "Niagara of the West." It's a source of hydroelectric power during the months of heavy flow.

The whole of southern Oregon was covered by repeated lava flows over the centuries and you can see many layers on most hillsides.
